I wish this blog wasn't necessary but I want to document what is likely to be a long and bitter fight with the folks who bought our building back in December 2007. Inwood, traditionally a working-class neighborhood, is being touted as the new trendy Manhattan neighborhood for professionals unable to afford pricey apartments in the UES and UWS. Harlem and Washington Heights have been in turmoil ever since Columbia University decided to expand and seems we're next in line.
This week, all the Section 8 tenants in the building received a visit from our building agent, Norris Chappell, with personal invitation from the management company to STFU and kindly GTFO.
Norris sent someone else to my apartment since I told him to not to contact me (details in a future post).
We were all given a copy of this:
Not very subtle, are they?
I have a copy of something I'd like to give our management company; a copy of the complaint I filed with the Department of Housing, Preservation and Development.
I'm sure HPD already notified them of this complaint and, in fact, all of these conditions were the subject of previous complaints. At this point, the next step is to bring an Order To Show Cause in Housing Court and have a judge take a look at it.
While he/she is at it, they can also see all the outstanding violations for this building (and there's several) at the
HPD website, as well as outstanding Building Code violations
on that site. If you want to see for yourself, just put the building address in the search box and hit enter.
I have a

I'll add some more widgets and links on the home page tomorrow after I get some sleep.
